How to avoid having your email address stolen for purposes of sending out forged spam: Although completely safeguarding yourself is almost impossible, I have learned there are ways of making it much harder for them. Here are a few tips I learned after I became a victim of forged emails. 1.
If
you make your email public through a web site or
posting to forums, etc. try 2. When posting to forums, if you can prevent it, don't use your email address, especially the email address you use all the time. One thing you can do is use Spam Gourmet this gives you a disposable email address which will expire after the number of emails you designate. 3. Don't be a victim of "drive-by-downloads." This is when you visit a site and you get that well known gray warning box that says "Security Warning" asking you if you want to download, install and run a particular program or software.
