Hi, we receive lots of emails with questions regarding the cleaning of sterling silver, hallmarks, etc. Things that seem to be on the minds of many, so to address these and keep our customers abreast of what is going on here, we will be posting questions and answers, news and updates here in the blog in hopes that these will be useful to all of our customers and friends.

Is it ok to put gold items in a silver dip, i put a pair of Clogau Gold and silver Ear Rings into a dip and to my dismay the Clogau gold seems to have gone !!!!!! I wonder whether it was just gold leaf on silver. I have always believed that gold couldn’t be damaged

Without having seen the pieces I can’t really say what happened, but feel you may be right. I also am not familiar with what is in the dip that you used. This is one reason that I recommend Haggerty cleaners.
